Protect, Reflect, and most importantly, don’t project. Lessons for Mercury Retrograde.

From January 30th - February 19th the planet of communication & information, Mercury appears to be moving backwards.

This is our first Mercury Retrograde of 2021. A lot of spiritual people will look at this time as “negative” Let’s shed that old outlook. Because Mercury goes retrograde three times a year. Three weeks each time. If you include the “shadow period” (one week before and after retrograde) that people talk about that means Mercury is in retrograde FIFTEEN weeks a year. Nobody has time to live in a negative or fearful mindset for nearly one third of the year.

So, let’s talk about Mercury. Mercury rules communication, information, divination, technological advancements, community connection, etc. As far as Magick & ritual are concerned, Wednesday is the best day to work with these energies.

With Mercury in retrograde we should really focus and reflect on these areas within our own lives. Time to get inside of our own heads and see how we may be holding ourselves back. Some survival tips for retrograde:

1. Slow down. Double check. Triple check everything.

2. Meditate. Divinate. Contemplate.

3. Charge your phone, laptop, watch, tablet.

4. Get that oil change!

5. Read & re-read all correspondence before responding.

6. Seek clarity when you need it.

7. Make sure you are texting the correct person, and not the person you’re talking about!

The best way to protect yourself during retrograde is to simply slow down, and be prepared. Don’t take anything personally. We are all just trying to make it. With this first retrograde occurring in the Unique, intelligent, rebellious sign of Aquarius you may want to reflect on any Aquarian nature of your own.
